WEEK THREE RANKINGS BY EVAN MEYER
After two weeks of Mid-American Conference football, Bowling Green grabs the top spot in the East after its impressive offensive display at Kent State. In the West, Northern Illinois remains number one even though the Huskies had the week off. Ball State, however, is climbing the charts and is 2-0 after a victory over Army Saturday.

 EASTERN DIVISION

BOWLING GREEN (2-0,1-0) The Falcons take the East top spot thanks to a 41-22 win at Kent State to go 2-0 for the second time in three years. BGSU goes for 3-0 next week at Indians.

OHIO (1-1) Bobcats rebounded from loss at Louisville to beat North Texas in home opener. Next week at home to Marshall.

KENT STATE (1-1,0-1) Golden Flashes stayed with Bowling Green for a half but had no answers in the second in a 41-22 loss at home. Next week at LSU.

AKRON (1-1) Zips came back from a 13-0 deficit to defeat FCS member James Madison 35-33. Next week at Michigan.

BUFFALO (0-1) Bulls were simply overmatched by Bears in 70-13 loss. Next week their home opener against FCS Stony Brook.

MASSACHUSETTS (0-2) Minutemen fell in their home opener to FCS member Maine, 24-17. Next week at Kansas State.

MIAMI (0-2) RedHawks simply overmatched for second straight week -- this time at Kentucky, 41-7. Can “bye” this week help MU regroup for home opener against Cincinnati?

WESTERN DIVISION

NORTHERN ILLINOIS (1-0) Huskies had the week off after their final second victory in week one at Iowa. This week on the road at Idaho.

BALL STATE (2-0) Cardinals pounded Army 40-14 in the home opener. Begin a two-game road trip this week at North Texas.

TOLEDO (0-2) Rockets had their chances at Missouri but mistakes paved way in 38-23. This week opens home schedule against Eastern Washington.

EASTERN MICHIGAN (1-1) Eagles came back to earth losing at Penn State 45-7. This week on the  road at Rutgers

CENTRAL MICHIGAN (1-1) Chips rebounded from loss at Michigan - needed a late FG to beat FCS New Hampshire. This week at Nevada-Las Vegas

WESTERN MICHIGAN (0-2) Broncos fell at home to FCS Nicholls State 27-23 next week at Northwestern.

Akron might be a little high in the east. Same thing with EMU in west. Otherwise, looks fairly accurate - for now! We haven't even really hit the real MAC schedule yet.
