Detroit, Mich. – The Ohio Bobcats and the Toledo Rockets have been selected to win the East and West Divisions respectfully in the 2012 Mid-American Conference Football Preseason Poll.  The poll was announced at the league’s annual Football Media Day at Ford Field in Detroit and was determined by members of the league’s media contingent.  The Bobcats also were selected to win the 2012 Marathon MAC Football Championship.



 
 
Detroit, Mich. - The Mid-American Conference (MAC) announced today a four-year contract extension with both Ford Field as host and Marathon as the title sponsor for the Marathon MAC Football Championship Game through the 2015 college football season.


 
 
AKRON, Ohio – University of Akron head men’s basketball coach Keith Dambrot has agreed in principle to a new ten-year contract, President Dr. Luis M. Proenza and director of athletics Tom Wistrcill announced Friday. The contract is finalized and pending approval from the UA Board of Trustees. Dambrot, who has compiled a 184-87 (93-39 in Mid-American Conference play) record in eight seasons at the helm of the Zips’ program, is now under contract through the 2021-22 season.

    Mike Smith saw his first MAC football action as a nine-year-old while hanging onto the flagpole of a nearby baseball stadium. The view got better after he discovered he could get in free at halftime.  Decades later, he can usually be found either on press row or along the sidelines.

    Mike has won awards for both his stories and pictures during his time in journalism.
